Harper Bennett saw three men surrounding a stranger behind her flower shop. Unable to fight them, she kissed him and announced:
“Touch my husband, and you’ll have to go through me.”
To her astonishment, the men retreated.
The stranger introduced himself only as Damian. Harper didn’t realize he was Damian Vale, the most feared man in Philadelphia’s criminal underworld.
The following evening, the three men returned and began destroying her shop. Before they could hurt Harper, Damian arrived with his security team.
“She saved you yesterday,” their leader said nervously.
“No,” Damian replied. “Yesterday, she saved you from me.”
He forced them to pay for every broken item. Then he told Harper the truth: he had inherited his father’s criminal organization but had spent months secretly gathering evidence to dismantle it.
Harper agreed to help him on one condition.
“If you want a place in my life, no more secrets.”
Damian turned over the evidence, bringing down the organization and its corrupt allies. He surrendered his illegal fortune and rebuilt his life through legitimate businesses.
One year later, he waited for Harper in the same alley with a ring.
“The first time you kissed me, you thought you were saving my life,” he said. “Will you kiss me now because you love me?”
Harper smiled.
“Only if I really get to be your wife this time.”
She kissed him before he could finish proposing.
