Elena had worked for billionaire CEO Adrian Cross for six years.
She knew his schedule better than anyone. She protected his secrets, handled impossible clients, and stayed late whenever the company was in crisis.
But that morning, one phone call changed everything.
Elena’s face went pale as she listened.
“Are you certain?” she whispered.
Behind her, Adrian stopped reviewing his documents. He had never seen her look afraid.
The voice on the phone continued.
Elena slowly turned toward him.
Then she said the words that made Adrian freeze.
“No… Mr. Cross doesn’t know he has a daughter.”
Silence filled the office.
Adrian’s expression hardened.
Elena ended the call, but before she could explain, he stepped closer.
“What did you just say?”
Her hands trembled.
“Adrian… I wanted to tell you years ago.”
His eyes narrowed.
“Tell me what?”
Tears filled Elena’s eyes as she opened a hidden folder on her phone and showed him a photograph of a five-year-old girl.
Adrian stared at the screen.
The child had his dark eyes.
His unmistakable smile.
Then Elena whispered:
“Her mother died last night. And before she died… she told them to call me.”
Adrian looked up sharply.
“Why you?”
Elena swallowed hard.
“Because she was my sister.”
And in that moment, Adrian realized the woman standing in front of him had been carrying his greatest secret for five years.
But Elena still hadn’t told him the most dangerous part.
Someone else already knew about the child.
And they were coming to take her.
