Her CEO Husband Chose His Mistress—Then a Helicopter Landed on the Hospital Roof

Claire Cross was thirty-four weeks pregnant with twins when her contractions began.

She called her husband, Daniel, begging him to come home. Instead, she heard music, laughter—and the voice of his mistress, Vanessa.

“My water just broke,” Claire gasped.

Daniel sighed. “Call an ambulance. I’ll come when I can.”

Then he ended the call.

While Claire collapsed on the kitchen floor, Daniel raised a champagne glass with Vanessa and toasted to “new beginnings.”

Fortunately, the housekeeper found Claire and called emergency services. At Evergreen Memorial Hospital, doctors discovered that both babies were in distress. Claire needed immediate surgery.

The hospital tried contacting Daniel, but he ignored every call.

Then a helicopter appeared above the hospital roof.

Claire’s parents, Charles and Eleanor Whitmore, stepped out with a renowned neonatal surgeon. Daniel had no idea that his wife was Claire Elizabeth Whitmore—the daughter of the billionaire founder of Whitmore Meridian Group.

Claire had hidden her identity because she wanted Daniel to love her, not her family’s fortune.

Three hours later, Daniel finally arrived—with Vanessa beside him.

He stormed toward the restricted maternity wing.

“Where is my wife?”

Charles Whitmore turned to face him.

Daniel froze. He recognized the powerful businessman immediately.

“Mr. Whitmore?”

“You abandoned my daughter while she was fighting for the lives of your children,” Charles said coldly.

“Your daughter?”

Before Daniel could recover, the doctor announced that Claire and both boys had survived. The babies would remain in intensive care, but they were stable.

Daniel stepped toward the doors.

“I need to see my wife.”

“No,” Claire said.

She sat in a wheelchair, pale and exhausted, with her mother beside her.

Daniel stared at her. “You’re a Whitmore?”

“I hid my wealth because I needed to know whether you loved me,” Claire replied. “Tonight, you gave me the answer.”

Vanessa immediately removed the diamond bracelet Daniel had bought her with company money and left.

Then Charles handed Daniel a folder containing proof that he had misused corporate funds to finance his affair. Whitmore Meridian secretly controlled the largest stake in Daniel’s company.

By sunrise, Daniel had been removed as CEO.

Claire filed for divorce and requested full custody of the twins.

“You lied about who you were,” Daniel accused.

Claire looked through the nursery window at her sleeping sons.

“I hid my last name,” she said. “You revealed your character.”

Daniel had chosen his mistress while his wife labored alone.

In one night, he lost his marriage, his position, and the future he believed he controlled.

Claire had nearly lost everything too. But as she held her sons for the first time, she realized the truth:

Daniel’s betrayal had not destroyed her life.

It had finally set her free.
